I served as fellow Senior Software Engineer on ESG’s Elite Sports Football<\/em>, a hybrid MMORPG\/American Football game which focused on 7 on 7 games. Elite Sports Football<\/em>‘s <\/em>networking utilizes the Photon Quantum deterministic remoting service, to ensure consistent experiences across all platforms, as well as smooth gameplay among various latencies. A major challenge I undertook was devising methods to partition the outdoor environment between the playable football fields, in order to simulate a population of actual players greater than the limits of Photon Quantum’s Room architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other tasks included refining player motion, player camera control, synchronizing motion-captured animations, and building specialized shaders to provide in-game UI with selective rendering. Due to Photon Quantum’s decoupled architecture, I also developed a custom, deterministic parabolic trajectory calculator, since physics in Quantum-driven games must be calculated and manipulated outside of Unity’s own engine layer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
